Northumbria Police
The Response Policing Team is the primary division within Northumbria Police and will be where all new members who wish to join as Police in the community will begin their journey. The Response Policing Team are responsible for responding to emergency 999 calls, in addition to identifying and reducing crime and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our civilians.
After a spending some time within the Response Policing Team, members may wish to explore the other more specialist policing roles available by transferring to our Motor Patrols or Firearms Support divisions. In addition to their primary role and division, members will also have the opportunity to undertake retained roles in Public Order, Marine Policing and other police support roles.
Control Room (Communications Centre)
Our Control Room plays a key role in managing radio talk groups. Their role involves communicating with police officers on the scene of incidents providing them with vital information accurately and concisely. Within the role of Resource Controller our members can be expected to work under pressure and be able to multitask, often managing the response to multiple incidents at once.
There is a variety of additional qualifications members of the division are able to attain which will see them take on extra responsibility, such as being tactical advisor or making supervisory decisions in relation to ongoing incidents.
Our Control Room also encompasses our Emergency Operations Controller’s who are responsible for managing radio talk groups for our Ambulance and Fire Service exclusively.
North East Ambulance Service
The North East Ambulance Service is responsible for responding to urgent and emergency medical situations. They will also attend minor medical matters and incidents where people are in mental health crisis. They work closely with the Police and Fire Service on large-scale and major incidents that require medical aid and intervention.
Should members wish to expand their capabilities they can qualify in a number of further roles including Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Air Ambulance and more.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service respond to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency calls utilising their variety of skills and expertise. Their pump engines and other specialist vehicles are a fundamental tool in their response to calls and incidents. Members can also expect to work closely with other emergency services such as Ambulance and Police at incidents such as road traffic collisions, or large-scale house or industrial unit fires.
We have a multitude of specialist fire and rescue scripts, props and resources to help bring roleplay scenarios to life making them highly realistic.
Civilian Operations
Civilians are the cornerstone of the community, without them our patrols could not function. Civilians are responsible for creating scenarios and scenes for all of our emergency services during our patrols.
Through use of our Force Management System and the in-built CAD functions they are able to make emergency and non-emergency calls, create characters and vehicles and are able to add supporting information such as warning markers or vehicle information that may be of note to police or other emergency services.
